Catch up time!

Wow it's been months since my last post I apoloise!

How is everyone? Everyone have a good Christmas?

I've been on two holidays since I last posted! Las Vegas and Paris!
Both were WONDERFUL.

Prepare for photos and a more detailed description in my next post.

First though, what shows have you all been watching lately?

Right now I'm really into The Flash (isn't Grant Gustin such a cutie!) and trying to get into Arrow (although not successfully).

My favorite shows of the 90's and 2000's

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Full of complex characters, great acting, consistent story telling, strong women and of course, snarky humour, BTVS was hard not to like! Even at it's most depressing in season 6, it was still compelling and consistent.
It will always be the show that put Joss Whedon on the map, even if Firefly

  • Boy Meets World

Rarely does a family show tackle such hard hitting issues, which usually always revolved around the character of Shawn Hunter, beautifully played by Rider Strong.  Alcoholism, abandonment issues, intimacy issues, death of a parent, long lost brother. You name it, and it's probably happened to Shawn Hunter.
I don't know about all of you, but I just wanted to wrap him up in a blanket and protect him.
I can't be the only one right?
Not only that, but for a kids/family show, Boy Meets World was actually really funny at times, and had the most realistic parents and realistic dialogue I've ever seen on a kids show.

For seven years we watched these kids grow up and go off to college.
And lets be honest, who didn't get emotional in the final scene when they say goodbye to Mr. Feeny!

It's such a shame that the long awaited spin-off Girl Meets World, which centers around Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley, is such a colossal Disney disappointment.
But alas, I will still watch Rider Strong's guest appearance in the Thanksgiving episode.

  • Popular

Like "Boy Meets World", rarely does a teen dramedy successfully mix angst and comedy properly.
Season One of Popular really managed to do that though. It was hilarious but serious at the same time.
This show was my bible growing up. I loved all the hard hitting issues in it,
Created by Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck), Popular premiered on The WB back in September 1999, starring Leslie Bibb and Carly Pope as two nemeses with PMS at Kennedy High. Filled with snarky humor, Popular wasn’t just another teenage drama — it mocked the genre and itself.
Unfortunately creator Ryan Murphy knows how to a create a good show and run it into the ground, as seen from NipTuck, Glee and eventually American Horror Story.

  • Ugly Betty.

At the time, this show as pretty  ground breaking. Never before had we seen a lead character be intentionally unattractive on an American prime time show.
At the beginning Betty was lovable, and the exploits of the other characters were just as compelling.
It was funny but kept us hooked with all it's drama.

  • Roswell
  • Charmed
  • Odyssey 5

How about all of you? What shows did you worship back then?

My little guide to Frizz Free hair!

God I used to waste so many hours trying to tame my thick frizzy hair, but over time I have adapted a routine that has helped me fight the battle with frizz.
Step One: Washing
The thing about keeping hair smooth and healthy is that you need to replace two things to help seal the hair cuticle.
Protein and oils. Or more specifically: Keratin and Argan oil.
Invest in some Keratin and Argan rich shampoos and conditioners that don’t contain sulphites or parabens, and always leave your conditioner in for a few minutes. Extra tip: Washing out your conditioner with cold water will help seal the cuticle.
Step Two:  Leave-in Conditioning Treatment
Use an Argan Oil based treatment on damp hair before you dry it, making sure you brush it evenly underneath aswell if you have thick hair.
Argan Oil
Step Three: Drying
Dry underneath first using a rounded wire brush like the professionals do. Work from the roots to tip and be patient. Use as much strength as you can to smooth the hair. It also might be an idea to invent a frizz control brush.
I find those hair dryers with ion control are great.

Step Four: Straightening:
When your hair is (finally) dry haha, I recommend using another Argan oil treatment that is allowed for dry hair. Work though the hair evenly and don’t use to much as you don’t want a greasy look. Again, make sure you get underneath, and focus on the ends.
The brand of straighteners I would recommend are from Aria Beauty. They work brilliant for keeping the hair healthy, but just need a blitz of hair spray to get that lasting look, especially in the summer.  Or if you can’t find that brand in your city, get a keratin based straightener with ceramic ion technology.
I also recommend a tension comb. It really grips the hair and makes straightening a lot faster and easier, with better results.

Step Five:  Maintenance.
Ever noticed that your hair is perfect but all bets are off once you leave the house… yeah I’ve been there.
Top tip:  Humidity Spray to add into dry hair when the weather starts to take control of your hair, for example this one by Nicky Clarke
